Paul Davidson for KS House District 31
FAIR PROPERTY TAXES.
If you elect me, my full focus will be to present you with a state constitutional amendment to dial back the property tax burden on all residents!
Like every candidate in this Democratic primary, I am fully committed to public education, public schools, human rights-including LGBTQ rights and access to abortion, Medicaid expansion, labor organizing rights, raising the minimum wage, public transit, and better infrastructure.
I am committed to clean energy, air and water as integral to our long term health and prosperity.

What sets Paul apart?
How is this candidate different from the other two?

A unique skillset for the job
Experienced community organizer and state coalition builder with proven results.
Student Environmental Action Coalition National Council Rep for four states, working for and organizing about 20 student groups in KS, IA, NE and MO.
Missouri State Organizer for the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks. Succeeded in getting the entire MO congressional delegation to oppose the expansion of more multi-trailer, single driver, "truck trains" on our highways.
Third District Field Organizer (one of three) for the Kansas Democratic Party in 1998, when Dennis Moore unseated an incumbent Republican in what was then a solid Republican district.
Music Advocate representing local musicians to our local Congressional office every year since 2017.
Canvasser to Get out the Vote for Democrats every even year from 2018 to 2024. My precinct was a lone "blue shift" precinct in 2024, when all others in the area leaned redder than in 2020.
Connections to get the job done
My entire career, even as a musician, has been spent building connections not only in KCK, but around the metro and across Kansas.
I can build a coalition for the property tax amendment, with people around the state ready to engage the rest of the State House to help get this done.
No other candidate for this seat has a proven track record of success at doing this. I do.
A specific plan for FAIR PROPERTY TAXES
The biggest single factor in our extreme property taxes is the market - rapidly rising home values over 35 years vs. relatively stagnant commercial values.
In the '90's residents paid 38% of all property taxes.
Now we pay 57%.
A State constitutional amendment in 1990 set the rules that made this happen.
The only fix for this is a new constitutional amendment that automatically lowers the assessed (taxed) part of our home values until residents pay no more than, as one example, 45% of property taxes.
